Hey, some guy built a car in his garage! And it’s pretty neat! LET’S SHIT ALL OVER IT!

i havent seen the interior, but realistically, it looks like he draped a bunch of fiber (from his dads company) over a golf cart chassis.
dont get me wrong, its an interesting talking piece...but eh. not a car.
door are cool though. reminds me of tht saab concept.

Why wouldn't it be a car? The Guinness Book of World Records recognizes a children's quad with a postman pat shell as the world's smallest car, so this thing definitely qualifies.

Wasnt the Peel P50 the smallest car?
also, 20mph top speed? come on. thats a little buggy for getting around a campus.

Don’t discount the usual xenophobia...

Yes and no. The Peel remains the world’s smallest production car.
But the record the world’s smallest road legal car goes to a guy that literally just took a kid’s quad and put a shell on top
But my problem is that if we consider a modified quadbike (the thing above) and an enclosed moped (peel) as cars, why is this guy’s creation not a car?
It’s a shitty car, but it's still a car.

lights dont look legal, and not plated for street use. 2 differences from the quad to his car

He molded that thing with his bare hands

The words “Supercar” and “20MPH top speed” in the same sentence seems very oxymoronic.
Regardless that’s a pretty sharp body, hope the kid goes somewhere with his talents.

I don’t get it either. He wants to be a designer. Spent a year and $5,000 to build a CFRP vehicle that has one solid panel from the “headlights” all the way to rear fenders as a door. Im not sure why they are acting as if it’s a new car company aimed at Tesla instead of a kid that wants to become an automotive designer. It has the same speed and power of most concept cars that are presented at auto shows.

This is just like the kid that ‘built a clock’. Just taking an existing product and repackaging it isn’t ‘building/creating’ it’s repackaging. May be cool depending on the resources available, but not particularly newsworthy and people will side-eye it when claims are made beyond what it really is.

Why mention that its from his dads company?
Wouldnt you want to help your kids anyway you could? Wouldnt this be ok to do? And if not why?

Seriously. Well done FP.
